Review & Release Day: Speechless (Pier 70 #3) by Nicole Edwards @NicoleEAuthor

Title: Speechless
Series: Pier 70 #3
Author: Nicole Edwards
Genre: Adult, M/M Romance
Published: June 7, 2016
He’s suffering in silence...

Teague Carter, one of the four owners of Pier 70 Marina, has spent his life feeling rejected. To the point that he has never allowed himself to get close to anyone. He prefers it that way, in fact. But he refuses to believe that his destructive behavior might be something more than rebellion.

He’s unable to speak...

Hudson Ballard, Pier 70’s mechanic, has been fighting his attraction to Teague for years. He has stood by and watched the kid get more and more out of control, but this time is the last. If Teague wants to use sex to escape his problems, Hudson is certainly willing to be the one to show him that he’s good with more than just his hands.

Sometimes words aren’t necessary.

There are fireworks when this out-of-control bad boy agrees to no strings with this tatted up, dominating mechanic.

Can Teague and Hudson keep their emotions from getting involved in their arrangement? Or -- thanks to the demons from their pasts -- will the darkness steal from them before they have a chance?
We invite you join the Nicole & Colt Edwards Group on Facebook. Don't miss out on the fun and prizes at the Speechless Release Party happening Monday, June 7th starting at 8 AM CST till Tuesday, June 8th at 10 PM CST.

Where to start ... the heat ... the dominance ... the passion?  Okay the whole story wasn't strictly about sex but it kind of was.  Speechless is the third installment of the Pier 70 series by Nicole Edwards.  The story of Hudson and Teague picks up with a flashback/dream that Teague has about what transpired the night of the Cam & Gannon's wedding reception on the cruise depicted in Fearless.

Teague is young but he's accomplished a lot in his short life.  From the toddler whose mother killed herself, to living on the streets, to now being one of four owners of the Pier 70 Marina in Austin, TX. Where Teague hasn't excelled in life is personal relationships, emotions, connections. He's closed off and Hudson wants nothing more than to open him up and peel back his layers till he has nothing left to be afraid of or to hide from.

Hudson was born mute but that never stopped the man from getting anything he wanted.  He's now the boat mechanic for the Pier 70 Marina and works closely with Teague each day as the voice for the customers that Hudson doesn't have. He's tried desperately to keep his attraction for Teague at bay but the kid is a temptation he can't deny any longer especially after that night on the cruise.  He had a taste and now he wants more!

Teague is damaged, that's for sure.  His demons haunt him in a very real way whether he likes it or not.  No matter how much he tries to keep a lid on his emotions he can't and he hates Hudson for bringing that out in him.  Their no strings arrangement is perfect except for Hudson's rules which Teague wants to tell him to shove up his ass but instead rolls with it because he knows this is going to be one hell of a ride pleasure wise and desperately wants to know if the reality of Hudson and all his dominance can live up to that dream so many months ago.

I'm not going to spoil any of the story, that's just not my style.  What I will say is read with a box of tissues for the raw emotions and powerful message that this story will convey.  Also, grab yourself a fan because its summer outside and reading this story anywhere, indoor or outdoor is sure to cause hot flashes and make you sweat!

My favorite side character in this story is Roan, because the man is still a conundrum.  We still know very little about him after three full length novels and that teaser at the end of things to come has me biting my nails and waiting with bated breath as I once again am asking Ms. Edwards for more, more more!  Make sure you grab Speechless and the entire Pier 70 series if you're a fan of MM or even if you simply just love Nicole's writing.  She will not disappoint!

Highly recommended!

Sometimes our desires pull us into directions that we don't want to go. Other times it is our emotions that are the factors. For Hudson and Teague it is a battle of wills.
Teague desires Hudson, but he doesn't want the commitment, doesn't want the feelings, and sometimes it is just easier to deny the true reasons as to why he stays away.

As for Hudson, he has secrets that keep him from moving forward and acting on the draw that he feels towards Teague. Those secrets hold him hostage emotional, as well as mentally.
Add into the mix that he is mute, and he tends to pull away from people in general, because it is just easier overall. The thing is, he questions himself when it comes to Teague.

This book's name is so fitting. When Nicole named it Speechless, she put so many factors that will leave you unable to talk. It goes beyond just Hudson and carries us full force
into Teague's story. The way that Nicole develops Hudson and Teague's interactions is off the charts. She takes you into the deep dark depths of each ones internal space and leaves you there
to ponder what makes them who they are.

Now, if you are a die hard Nicole Edwards fan, or if you are a new reader to Nicole's stories, she proves true to form again by heating us up. The way that she writes her sexy scenes are top notch and  leave our imaginations running full speed ahead. She allows us to sit and play witness to the hot intimate moments between Teague and Hudson. Now, this book does venture into some strong topics about the varying degrees of mental illness. It is a topic that many of us have faced or know some one who has faced it. It is a topic that is becoming less hidden and more open for discussion and acceptance.

I am so glad that I got to read this book. To see the turn in Teague will leave you "Speechless". To be able to hear the story pick up from where we were left in Fearless was great. The other thing is that I enjoy about reading Nicole's books is that even though they are part of series, you can read them as a standalone, but she still manages to pull in some of our older and other favorite characters to give us a peek into how their lives are going. She really gives us the luxury of never completely having to say good by. This book follows that and allows us to keep track on Dare, Noah, Cam, Gannon, Roan (hmm is his story next), or AJ and Milly(wonder if they are possibly next).

Again as you can see, not only does she tempt us with the others, but she keeps us in touch with the ones before. So I don't know about you but I am looking forward to seeing what kind of heat Nicole with come up with for us next.

Speechless Excerpt #2 © Nicole Edwards 2016

Teague was exhausted.
He had hardly slept last night, and it only had a little to do with the fact that Hudson had summoned him over so he could watch him masturbate (which, by the way, was hot as fuck). No, after that, when Teague had gone back to his apartment and attempted to sleep, he continued to think about Hudson. The man had captured his every thought and all of his dreams. He had tossed and turned, waking up with his dick in his hand because he was so turned on it fucking hurt.
So, suffice it to say, he needed a nap, but he had agreed to help out with some of the appointments today. And that’s how he found himself sitting behind the wheel on the boat while a group of girls flirted it up with a group of guys on the pontoon they’d rented for the afternoon.
He was actually used to this type of outing. He’d even had women ask for him specifically, though he doubted they knew he was gay. Not surprising, since he didn’t bother to tell them. What was the fun in that? He’d never so much as touched a woman in his life, and he had no desire to do so, either.
From the time he was old enough to figure out what his dick was intended for, Teague knew he wasn’t interested in boobs and pussy. Nope. It’d always been dick for him.
He’d experimented early on, topping a couple of times, but quickly learned that he preferred to be fucked, to be taken hard and fast, drilled into… Bottoming was certainly what he wanted. The whole top thing … required too much control, and that was one thing he lacked. Even he knew that.
And women … they didn’t have the parts that would please him.
But he could definitely flirt when necessary because it was good for business.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he retrieved it while making sure no one was around him. After Hudson’s text last night, he had no idea what the guy might send over, and he damn sure didn’t want anyone else to see it. Still, he remembered the commanding message for him to come over and watch. At first, he’d thought it had been some sort of test. Without hesitating, he had gone over and… Holy fuck. If he’d been concerned about whether or not it had been wise to accept Hudson’s proposal, he was no longer worried. The guy was hung like a fucking horse, and he was dominating when it came to sex. No way could Teague go wrong there.
You cool?
The message was from Hudson, and it was the first time he’d heard from him today, so it made him smile. Hudson was checking on him.
Not that he would put too much thought into that.
Yep. All good. You?
I’d be better if you were in the shop today.
Teague’s mind conjured up a million ideas about what they could do if he was in Hudson’s tiny little office, or even out in the shop.
Figuring it was his turn to tease a little, he responded with: And what would you do if I was?
What would you want me to do?
Of course Hudson would answer the question with a question. Still, he responded honestly: Whatever you wanted.
A minute passed, and Teague figured Hudson wasn’t going to respond, but as he was putting his phone back in his pocket, it vibrated. He took a deep breath as he pulled up the text and stared at the screen.
You would be okay if I sit you on my desk and suck you off right here?
Alrighty then.
Teague was fairly certain he’d just had a hot flash.
Like, seriously.
He peered over at the people on the boat, making sure they weren’t paying any attention to him. On a normal outing, he would’ve been hanging out with them, enjoying the party, but he was too tired today. Or he had been right up until he’d imagined sitting on Hudson’s desk while Hudson sucked him off.
He tapped out a response with shaky hands: I think I could handle that.
We’ll see about that. Come find me when you get back. As soon as you get back.
Thankfully, Teague had his sunglasses on, because it gave him some privacy for his thoughts. He knew he was easy to read, and the last damn thing he wanted was for these people to see the intense lust burning in his eyes.
He glanced at his phone to check the time. Still at least an hour and a half before they would be heading back to shore.
Surely he could wait that long.
