Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths and lady luck tucked into their back pocket. Then there’s people like me, who live to survive. Survive loss. Survive loneliness. Survive the black tar that swallows you whole, stealing everything and anything that could resemble a piece of happiness. They try and fail, try again and fail even harder. Starting life’s never ending cycle of wash, rinse, and repeat.

That’s me. Or it was. Ten years I wandered through life. Through ten towns. Through ten men. Then, I didn’t anymore. A hellacious storm came and ripped everything away, leaving me stripped bare for the most beautiful man. A man part of the Corrupt Chaos Motorcycle club, who not only saved my life but rescued my soul. Or so it may seem from the outside. On the inside, it’s not that simple. Life never is.
It’s dirty.
It’s ugly.
And it’s painstakingly relentless.

I’m Magdalene Murdock and this is my story.

As the old saying goes, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."  This statement fits this book by so many angles it is unbelievable.  This book has a way of pulling you in and making you feel if you are sitting right there having this story with Mags.  The push and pull between her and Lachlan.

Magdalene is a warm and caring individual whose life seems to fall apart each time she finds true happiness.  She has decided to keep her emotions and feeling close to her heart and her overall expectations low so that she doesn't have to endure the pain every again.  What she doesn't realize is that by shutting the rest of the world out, she has continued to deal with the pain and loss far longer than she has had too.  When a storm seems to take everything away from her, she soon realizes that it done just the opposite and brought her someone who will plant himself deep with in her soul and help to heal the gaping wounds that she has had for far too long.

Lachlan is a warm heated man who keeps himself emotionally bottle up tight.  He has stayed in a loveless marriage for far to long trying to do the right thing, even though the emotional stress is tearing him apart.  Overall the damage that he has endured from Meredith has cut so deep into his soul that he may never be able to close the wounds inflicted.  When he saves Mags, he finds himself in a situation that he doesn't know how to deal with and is scared of the feelings that he is having.  Will this gentle giant be able to accept the feelings that she causes in him, or will he close himself off to the sheer chance of maybe finding true happiness.

The way that Bink writes this book is fantastic.  I love how Mags talks directly to us bring her story to a different light than just your average romance.  She gives it an angle that pulls you in and has you feeling as if  you are sitting there talking with her over cupcakes.  Then the way that she flips the angle and has you reading Lachlan's point of view from the outside twist the story in a wide angle perspective that tugs you further into their surroundings.  The hurt, love, deceit, and internal battles that these two have to suffer through is what makes you feel so very much compassion for them.  They each are battling different demons with in, but yet in a way they are trying to overcome the same fear of rejection.  This book being a bit different from Bink's standard style is a phenomenal piece of writing that still has that diary feel to it.  Ad in the hilarious quips that come from Mags and when you are just about in a full blown ugly cry you find yourself laughing at a crazy quirky statement.  Then we must not forget Bridget, the loving, supportive daughter that really  is wise beyond her years.  The relationship with her father gives us the sensitive side to Lachlan and allows us to see that he is a gentle giant and not all brood.

I wish that I had the creative ability that numerous ladies have shown while writing reviews for Beyond her Words, because I don't feel as if I can do it the justice that it deserves.  It is truly an amazing book that holds you captive from the very first line all the way through the very end.  I found myself praying that Mags and Lachlan would receive the happy ending that they so very much deserved.  Please I beg of you to add this story to your TBR list, because if not you are missing the chance to read a very heart warming, tear jerking story that will stay with you long after is is done.

Beyond Her Words was a clever name for this book. I have to say it was quite entertaining but tore my heart apart a bit too.

Magdalene has been through so much in her young life already. Her story has torn me to bits and shreds. For someone who has gone through so much loss she sure is a fighter.

Lachlan (Smoke) is this massive hunk of a man. First, he’s a firefighter and he is Scottish! Need I say more??

When fleeing from a relationship Bree is caught in a terrible storm. Seeking shelter in a gas station, she actually saves the older woman running it. Not knowing what happened Bree wakes up in a hospital not able to speak but the weird part is she’s surrounded by a bunch of strangers that plead they want to take care of her. Being so broken what choice does she have? Lachlan and his daughter insist on taking her in until she heals properly.

I really love an alpha male and Lachlan is pure alpha. He makes sure Magdalene is taken care of no matter what. For being such a hard ass he really is a big teddy bear at heart. I love the little spitfire that Magdalene can be as well. The supporting characters were quite fascinating as well.

I did find myself a little lost in the beginning when we meet Lachlan. His Scottish accent is carried out in the text so it was tricky for me at first but once I got the lingo down I was good to go. This is my very first book by Bink and it most definitely will not be my last.
