I’ve met boys like him before. Rich. Bored. Always wearing a silver-spooned smile. But there is something different about him that piques my curiosity. The way he looks at me, like he is staring through the bars of a gilded cage he’s never left. Like he is one breath away from suffocating beneath a mound of responsibilities. He is different from the rest because he doesn’t wear his money… his money wears him. I just don’t think he knows it yet.

She’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. She’s everything I’ve never been able to be. Carefree. Whimsical. A dreamer. Her laugh is infectious. She is irresistible. I can’t help but be drawn to her with an intensity that steals my breath and muddles my senses. I want to know her, need to know her, but how can I allow myself that liberty when I don’t have the freedom to make my own choices?

Phillip and Maggie think they have it all. Even though they come from opposite backgrounds, they each have bright futures paved out, with no distractions holding them back.

Until the fateful day they meet each other.

After a brief, adventurous time together in The Hamptons, Maggie and Phillip find themselves saying goodbye just as the spark of love flashes intensely between them. Can their budding connection be enough to survive the pulling tides of change, or will they drift apart before they even have a chance to explore what could have been?

Phillip does what Mother wants. When Mother wants it. Strolling down the dock looking at expensive yachts with his least favorite person latched on his arm? Done. Tennis lessons at 11:00 in the morning? Done. College that she wants him to go to? Done. For his entire eighteen years, Phillip has done anything, and everything that Mother has asked him to do. When he meets Maggie, an apparent basketball in the middle of the black top basketball court, he doesn't expect to be intrigued by her wild child like spirit, and her endless taunting of him. After he steadies her on her eccentric roller blades, he never expects to see her again - though, a part of him can't wait to see her again.

Maggie has worked hard her entire life. From trading her two wheels (a bicycle) for her eight wheels (roller blades), she has never had anything handed to her. So, when pretty boy, silver spoon in his mouth, Phillip waltzes up to her (more like mosies his way to her), she doesn't expect him to give her the time of day. She doesn't exactly care for him; she knows his type, and wants nothing to do with his type. Neither of them are prepared for the outburst of feelings that overcome them as they continuously run into one another, and then start making plans to see each other. The chemistry that erupts between the two of them is simply outstanding, and really shone through as the story went on.

Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems, and Phillip must make the decision. Continue living under Mother's thumb? Where he must follow her every order? Or follow his heart, and live a life of carefree, loving, and understanding? The plot twists, the chemistry between Phillip, and Maggie, and of course the over all outcome of this love story was sorts of exciting, and had a rippling effect for the readers. There was all sorts of ways this novel could have ended, and I will leave that for you to fine out.

A job well done to Sonya Loveday, and Candace Knoebel!
