She’s no stranger to love and loss…

By age eighteen, Alexa Kingsley had lost everyone. Only Joey, the lonely boy next door, remained. He’d clung to Alexa like a lifeline through years of abuse at the hands of his father, and she vowed to protect him as best she could. Alexa thought Joey was the one person who’d always be there—until the day he left her as well. Finally forced to go it alone, Alexa finds this latest loss may hurt worst of all.

He’s no stranger to lack of love…

Joseph O’Connor was every bit the villain his father trained him to be, his young heart twisted into something ugly, corrupted. But his father underestimated the girl next door, miscalculated the impact Lexi would have on Joey’s life, the spark she ignited that eventually, despite all odds, grew to an inferno of hope. To reclaim her, Joey must first become a man Lexi can be proud of…the kind of man she deserves.

Amidst a shadowy world of guns and drugs, will Joey’s ultimate sacrifice—a declaration of love from a man who was never shown any at all—be enough to finally set him free?

**My review covers all three books as I reviewed all three prior to release day**

Holy. Wow. Two words that come to mind upon finishing this outstanding series by Evie Harper. Now, mind you I have always had You Loved Me At My Darkest on my Kindle. I can't remember when I picked it up, but I knew that I needed to pick up the rest of the series when the invite from Enticing Journey Promotions came through. I was not disappointed by this series at all. My review will try to cover all three books, but will focus mainly on You Loved Me At My Ugliest.

The series begins with orphaned sisters, Lily and Sasha deciding to travel the world. Not a care in the world, they set out from the farm their family had tended to for centuries, from Australia to venture into the rest of the world. What they don't know is the dangers that await them upon stepping off of the plane, and onto American soil. We see into Jake's thoughts as he stalks the girls around New York City, and cry out when you know the inevitable is about to happen; kidnapping. The girls are taken to a far off place. First by car, then by separate planes, and once again by car to a mansion that stands on the edge of the ocean. There is no escape.

When this whirlwind into the You Loved Me Series comes to a crashing halt, and the dust clears, Jake is left standing between a rock, and a hard spot. Lily Morgan has captured his cold, stone heart, and there's nothing he can do about it. Can a semi-forbidden love make its way into society where they know each others worse kept secrets? Can Lily, and Sasha survive the hardships that come with being in the positions they're in? There is so much more to this book, and I urge you to pick it up!

You Loved Me At My Weakest takes a look into one of the other girls in the Collection. Emily. Emily has had a rough life; being in the Collection for five has made her into a woman she isn't sure of. Kidnapped by the men that took Lily, and Sasha, she quickly learns that she has no say in anything that happens in her life anymore. She has to live with it, or be sentenced to life as a slave in the mansion - or worse, sold off to who knows where. Prior to being a gem in the Collection, Emily was deeply in love with Kayne. A selfless man that waited, and hoped, and finally rescued Emily from her hell that she was in, he saves her. But things are not what they once were.

The story line between Emily, and Kayne was just gut wrenching. Every turn of the page there was something else that reminded Emily of her time in the Collection. The horror, the panic, the self worth that quickly dissipated in the parties that were held on a weekly basis. When she is rescued by Kayne, pulled from the depths of her depression, he stands by her, protects her, and tells her that things will be ok. The chemistry between these two characters was just outstanding. I highly suggest reading the first book in the series prior to this book as the story line will be easier to follow.

You Loved Me At My Ugliest takes a different look from another point of view, and focuses mainly on Joey O'Conner. Joey does not know, nor understand the unconditional love a parents is supposed to provide. From a young age, his life was topsy turvy, and never really on solid ground. Through this rough period in his life there was on constant; his childhood friend, Lexie. Lexie was always there it seemed like. Late at night, early in the morning, when he needed her the most, or when he just needed to sit with no words spoken between the pair. But, Joey's life came to a slamming halt when he has to leave Lexie behind. He only wishes she understood it was for her safety.

The emotional heartbreak that both of these characters go through in their young lives was just - I can't think of a word I haven't used already! From Joey being in a bad childhood, to Lexie coming to his rescue even with her dark past, there wasn't a time where I thought things wouldn't be ok with these characters. Evie wrote them to make sure the reader was reassured that they would be ok in the end. Through all the pain, and the tears, and the heartache that both Lexie, and Joey went through they found each other. They learned to let go of the past that once held them in their dark secrets, and let them go in one another.

Gawd. This book. This series. There was not one moment that I was bored, or wanted to leave the book behind. I sat up late many, many nights reading, and pawing through my Kindle trying to get to the ending line. But when it all ended...I only wanted more. Evie Harper wrote a spectacular series that all really intertwined with one another. While each book can be read as stand alones, I highly suggest reading this as a series. Job well done to Evie on a phenomenal suspense read that kept readers on edge, and wanting more.
