Devastated by the death of his father in his arms, Dallas Wesson turns Nomad and hits the open road.  He soon learns there’s a price to pay for freedom. The club is in danger of collapsing, and his woman has left with his son. With blood staining his hands, and demons haunting his nightmare he finds his hardest battle is with himself.

As the daughter of the Vice President, Cora entered her relationship with Dallas with eyes open. The sacrifices made always paled in comparison to the love and happiness she received. But things change and everyone has a limit of how much they can take.  Close to breaking down, and lost in the maelstrom of the broken man she’s committed her life to, she’s forced to pull away to remain sane.
Together they will conquer the ghosts of the past and face the future as one, or go their separate ways.

"I took you for granted.  I got comfortable and I took shit out on you.  I never should've done that.  I get that know.  Why do you think I left?  I knew we couldn't go on that way and it was going to get worse.  All of it was never really about you."  ~ Dallas ~

When the one you love hurts, it makes everything hard, because you know that there really is nothing you can do to take that pain away.  When you try to take all the stress away and shoulder it, eventually it becomes to much to bare, and you find yourself crumbling beneath the weight of it all.  This is just one of the issues that not only Dallas and Cora face, but also Danny and Rowan.

I found my self being pulled in by the depth of emotions that this book contained.  The way that everyone was affected was just overwhelming.   To see the struggle and pains that Dallas was dealing with and the ghost of feelings long not resolved seemed to eat him alive.  Then because of the emotional battle that he is waging, it causes Danny to try to deal with issues that is really not him, but because of this he too questions his ability and what he thought about his life in general.  This is where you seem to ride the longest in this book hoping that all works itself out and things can find an order again.

This book kinda gives you a different angle on the MC lifestyle in means of what happens when you lose someone close to you or almost lose that person.  It is about more than just a love story and that is what makes it stand out above most other MC stories.  For me this book wasn't just about what Dallas and Cora was going through, but it was as if we got a story with Danny and Rowan as well, due to the significant rolls that they played in the book.  I hope that we will see more of these four as well as maybe Houdini and Vita, because they two make you want to see how their lives turn about.

Shyla Colt grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but has lived a variety of different places thanks to her wanderlust, interesting careers, and marriage to a United States Marine. She’s always loved books and wrote her very first novel at the age of fifteen. She keeps a copy of her first submission letter on her desk for inspiration.
After a lifetime of traveling, she settled down and knew her time had come to write. Diving into her new career like she does everything else, with enthusiasm, research and a lot of prayers, she had her first book published in June of 2011. As a full-time writer, stay at home mother, and wife, there’s never a dull moment in her household.
She weaves her tales in spare moments and the evenings with a cup of coffee or tea at her side and the characters in her head for company.  A self-professed rebel with a pen. Her goal is to diversify romance as she continues to genre hop, and offer up strong female characters.

"Always? Because I'm never taking it back, never letting you go.  The thought of another man touching you all this time has driven me out of my mind.  You've always been mine, Cora. I think we both know that."  ~Dallas~

What happens when the one person you have longed for all your life, finally acknowledges you in the one way you have wanted.  Well, for Cora this is both a blessing and probably a curse.  She has loved Dallas from afar, wondering if he could, would, or even think about her in that way.

This book is the first book of the series, and Shyla Colt does a great job of building the characters personalities and the roles that they will play in this book, and in book two.  This book starts us off with Dallas, his brother Danny, Rowan who is Danny's girl, and Cora, who has wanted Dallas since she was old enough to have feelings for him.  Not only do we meet this group, we get to see what makes them the way that they are and the basic family dynamics that they are or know.

But what happens when you are forced out of said bubble and thrown into having to deal with the world as it really is. This is where we have to follow the story and see which direction that she will take us with her writing.  I like how she immediately ended book one and picked it right back up in book two.  I hope that you like these two as much as I have.
