Mia's life is turned upside down when she uncovers her family secret—that she and her brother Dino are witches.

Seeking refuge in an ancient castle, the siblings begin down a path that will change their lives forever. Suddenly thrust into a world where handsome warriors command the power of nature and peoples thoughts and actions can be manipulated at will, Mia and Dino struggle to navigate their own allegiances and do what they know to be right, even when everything around them seems beyond their control.

Paranormal? Yes, please! A great plot? Check. Good read? Absolutely!!

When we first met Mia and Dino, they had just learned of their witch abilities, their birthright. Mia wasn't so sure about any of it and Dino just plain hated it. The brother and sister were on their way to Glass Castle for the summer, where they were to learn of their powers and how to adapt to this new life. While Mia saw that Dino hated her for "causing all of this", he actually could feel her pain. He hated seeing his sister this way, but was just so angry. This is not how he pictured his life.

They had gone home to continue life, but now in book two ... they are on their way back to Glass Castle. Running away, to be exact.

"A castle charmed to be as translucent as glass - there, but unnoticed, just like its occupants."

Why? Someone is after Mia and her powers. Somebody wants what she has. Glass Castle can protect her, right? With Wendolyn on their side, they can take care of the situation and stay safe. This of course, is not what their mother and aunt had planned for Mia's protection. They wanted her to go on a holiday to the mountains, just until they found out and captured who wanted her dead.

Mia doesn't realize just how powerful she is, until she crosses that threshold of realization. She also has trouble with figuring out who can and can not be trusted. Will she ever know who is actually worthy of her trust? Will this person who wants her dead, end up being someone she knows, loves, and trusts?

Dino is just as skeptical. He will protect his sister with everything that he has. After all, you can't have one without the other!! One thing he knows for sure, is that he will NOT grow up to be anything even remotely close  to his father. This book shows you the true bond of a brother and sister. In the first book, they went through obstacles to get where they are today. The two had always been close, until that one fateful nights when their lives changed forever. I was so happy when they regained that bond.

This is an excellent series and I highly recommend this series to any reader who loves a good paranormal read. It is a nice breath of fresh air. Sometimes we need a really good YA book in between all of the other genres that we read. Gabriella has done an excellent job creating these characters. They are all completely believable and realistic. I would love to see this made into a movie adaptation. I would be the first in line!! Pick up these bad boys and happy reading!

Mia gazed around the land. Beyond the embankment, the forest stood staunchly behind its silvery mist. A natural curiosity held her focus to it. She was at a safe enough distance to really study it, and she couldn’t resist indulging in the temptation of doing so. After all, the forest held such mystery – it was impossible not to be intrigued by it. But the longer she watched it, the more uncomfortable it made her. Suddenly she felt extremely exposed, as though she was no longer simply watching, but was, in fact, being watched.

Mia glanced around, intimidated by the thought of eyes upon her. There was no one around; she was alone. Although perhaps that wasn’t a good thing.

When she looked back to the forest, the rain before her eyes seemed to distort her vision. It was as though the flow of rainfall was different somehow. And as it progressively worsened, she could barely see her own hand in front of her face. Now, the rain was no longer falling straight down, but rather it was dropping diagonally and in zigzag patterns, as though it had been caught in a ferocious whirlwind.

A familiar breeze caressed her wet hair. Mia stiffened instinctively. A Hunter was near.
