Fate Buchanan just wants to escape the constraints of her old life. After checking her mother into rehab and catching her fiancé with her maid of honor the night before their wedding, she ran. Angry and hurt, she’s aching to do something reckless.

Dean Maxwell is having one last summer of freedom before taking over his family’s multi-billion dollar medical conglomerate. When he sees a beautiful woman running down the beach alone after dark, he knows it’s not safe. So he does something impulsive.

When their paths cross unexpectedly after a night of unbridled passion, neither of them can forget the memory of the affair they shared. What began as one night is about to become a whole lot more.

*While part of the Second Chance series, this novel is a standalone.

"I want to own you.  I want permission to fuck you whenever, however, wherever, until we decide we're done.  Mutually.  And I want exclusive rights to your body until then.  That thing you said about not being exclusive?  Fuck that." Dean.

The story first starts with Fate getting ready to leave her life in Texas behind and marry her boyfriend of several years, Trevor.  The day before her wedding Fate finds her soon to be husband and best friend in a very compromising position.  Fate does the first thing her instincts tell her too which is to run.  This is where a sexy man catches her out of the corner of his eye and decided to follow her.  What neither of them expected to happen does, and sets the rest of the story in motion.

Fate continues her move to New York, where she starts her new job and meets Gwen, who becomes her best friend.  What Fate did not expect to do was to run into the man that she left on the beach several months earlier.  Surprised and not knowing what to do she tries to act as if nothing has happened except Dean Maxwell has other plans.

I felt sorry for Fate from the very beginning of the book, but with the way that Caisey Quinn writes Fate's story she doesn't allow for you to have pity on her long.  Fate is a strong person who is able to overcome the downs that are placed in her paths.  With Dean he is lead by his fears and doesn't know what or how to accept his feelings.  With this being said it is what leads his story with how and what happens between him and Fate.

This is one of those stories that will keep you heart on a roller coaster ride of emotions and you hope that the couple can find their happily ever after, but does "FATE" have it in the cards for them.  Throw in the fact that the ex-fiancee' refuses to back down just adds into the turmoil and disasters of the story.

I loved the funny, cute, sexy, and somewhat loving innuendos that Caisey Quinn writes into the story.  There are times she will have you to the point of wanting to cry and then poof she throws some silly quote out there and you find yourself laughing going I know he or she did not just say that.  This book was really well written, put together, and will have you hoping that everything works out in the end.  Not to mention you will fall in love with Keaton and Gwen's characters.  They are truly the perfect two best friends for Fate and Dean to have.  For me I think having a strong support cast is what allows a book to go from good to great, and this just adds that much more pizzazz to this one.  I am sure that you will enjoy reading this book time and time again just as I will.

"I just want to be completely clear. We're adults, we work together.  There isn't room in our relationship for silly misunderstandings because one or the other of us was afraid of being honest or hurting the other person."  I didn't turn down  your offer because I did not enjoy myself the opposite is true, I enjoyed it to much.  I can't do no strings Dean, that's not me."

"I think maybe I knew that already, like it or not, our situation got a great deal more complicated the moment I tore through a barrier I didn't expect to find inside the woman offering herself to a complete stranger on the beach."  ~Dean

.  “You don’t even know me,” he said quietly, lowering onto his elbows but still not pressing his weight into her.
“That’s why it has to be you,” she answered just as low. “I did everything right. I waited. I followed all the rules. And they… And I… You know what? Never mind. I don’t know what came over me.” She shoved at his chest, but he didn’t back off.
“Wait. Just wait a damn minute.” He brushed his nose against hers. “Tell me what you want. If you promise me you’re not drunk, I’ll do whatever you tell me to.” How this enigmatic woman possessed so much control over him already, he had no idea.
Propping on her elbows and staring directly into his eyes, she licked her lips. “I am not drunk.”
“Tell me what you want.”
Her chest pressed against him when she took a breath. “I want you to fuck me. Here. Now. Please.”
Christ. Well, okay then. No need to make her say it twice. Though he did love the way those words had fallen from her lips. He sat up and pulled his shirt off over his head. She glanced from side to side and began to pull her dress up.
Grabbing her hands, he shook his head. “Leave it on. Just in case anyone happens by.”
Like a photographer his dad might have hired to catch him doing something that would prevent him being able to take over the company. As much as he wanted to see every inch of her glorious body, he didn’t want to risk her being exposed like that.
He undid his pants. In the back pocket of his jeans was his wallet. He said a silent thank-you to the gods of spontaneous sex and dug the condom out. She watched him, her gaze steady and burning as he ripped open the foil packet and rolled the latex over his length.
As soon as he was done, she spread her legs and cradled him between them. Her vulnerable expression extracted honesty straight from his core. She was nervous, still with him and practically trembling in anticipation, but nervous. He offered her the best reassurance that he could with all the blood draining south of his brain.
“I’m not good at much. I’m a fuck-up of a son, I couldn’t be in a relationship if my life depended on it, and I might be about to run my family’s business straight into the ground.” He slid his erection through her gloriously primed folds. “But this? This I can do so well I could gold fucking medal in it.”
