Today is the day – the day that the man I love marries someone else. I don’t deserve pity or sympathy. I’ve made my bed. I left Mason and ripped his heart to pieces as I ran away. The guilt and sorrow consume me, threatening to choke me everyday.

But today is a new beginning. Today is the day I will wake up with a renewed resolve and determination to do better … to be better … to be worthy. My name is Sara Preston, and this is my story about what happens after.

Hope Over Fear can be read as a stand alone novel

"The fact is, Sara, I don’t think I can let you walk away.”
He reaches around and wraps my hair around his fist, then gently pulls, exposing my neck. My breath is coming in short bursts, and I fight with my body to appear calm and in control. His nose trails delicately across my cheek, down my neck, and over my collarbone. He gently nips at the base of my neck, and my body shudders involuntarily. He kisses hungrily up the side of my neck until he reaches my ear.
“Just give me a chance. I promise you won’t regret it, beautiful girl,” he whispers. He shifts back just far enough to look into my eyes. And I’m lost. Lost in the hunger and desire I see reflecting back at me.

Lowering his head toward me, he sucks my bottom lip, and I grasp his forearms tightly for balance. There’s nothing tentative about his approach. He’s self-assured, knows what he wants, and takes it. I fucking love that. He coaxes my lips open with his tongue and devours me. As our tongues slide hungrily against each other, he pulls me even closer to him and pushes his way between my legs. Adam kisses like he’s starving, and I’m all too happy to provide.
He ends the kiss way too soon for my liking. We stay intertwined and breathless for a few moments, and I love that I hold power over him like he does over me. He looks up at me with a lazy smirk, and it feels like the wind has been knocked out of me. He’s stunning, and I can’t believe he’s interested in someone like me.

"Fall into me Sara, because God knows I have fallen into you."  Adam

First of all I want to start by saying any romance novel that takes place in Texas or Louisiana immediately grabs my attention, because it gives me a sense of being back home.  Now, with that being said this book really hit me with that hometown feeling because of the University and the town that she was writing back although it being differently named stilled pulled me back to where I grew up and attended college so for me it made the story that much better.

When I started the book with Sara talking to Mason you could feel the sadness between them.  Unsure of what had happened you just wanted to help them find a way to ease the heartache they both were feeling.  Then when Mason said he was going to get married, I was like oh no, but again I was unaware of their history.  Shortly after this discussion between Sara and Mason we get to meet Marlo and Alex, Sara's two best friends who have stood beside her during her time of heartbreak and confusion.  The banter that these two throw out and give is another part of this book that you will enjoy because it just gives it that added flare.

Now, to Adam and his group of friends aka his extended family.  Celia and Caroline work at the community outreach center with Adam and have been there for him through some of his darkest hours.  Celia is also Adam's next door neighbor and like a sister to him.  Caroline has become like a second mother to Adam and she tends to be the one to give him sound advice whether he really wants it or not.  Through in Cain, who at first can come across as typical "jerk", but actually is a big teddy bear, will keep you in stitches with the stuff he says.  Put him and Marlo together and you end up with tears running down your cheeks.

The way that this group of people meet, grow to care for each other, and work to hold each other up when needed is amazing.  Not only does J.A. keep you hoping that Sara and Adam can find their own happiness, the way that she wrote it will keep you pulled in.  For the most part this is a pretty smooth story... girl sees boy, is attracted to boy, boy sees girl.. chases girl, but with the other things that are taking place around them and have happened in their pasts is what keeps making you wander if it is meant to be for them.  Just as I was really settling into the book, J.A. slings us into a moment that has me swallowing hard, and choking back lumps trying to keep from crying.  So to say she is able to hit you emotionally in this book is just barely touching the edge.  I really enjoyed reading this story and I am looking forward to hopefully getting to keep up with this group for a little while longer.  If you like a good old school romance book then this one will definitely be one to put on your to be read list.
