After years of trying unsuccessfully to conceive a child, Gemma Walsh discovers her husband in bed with another woman. Unable to face his betrayal, she retreats to Priest Lake, where her family owns a small cabin. But Gemma finds that she is not the only one hiding away at the lake to avoid an ugly truth.

Growing up, Andrew Monroe had been an intricate part of Gemma’s life but tragedy and misunderstanding shattered their bond, separating them, and they have lived with only their memories of each other for the past twenty years. As they rekindle their friendship, sparks ignite that neither one of them can resist, but the ghosts of the past linger between them, jeopardizing everything that they have worked so hard to rebuild.

Just when Gemma feels that she has found her second chance at happiness, she is faced with a shocking truth as her reality spirals out of control. She can’t deny the powerful force that brought Andrew back into her life anymore than she can defy the same force that now threatens to pull them apart.

An emotionally charged, heart-wrenching story that will leave you to question the freedom in truth and the existence of fate in its deepest sense.

Gravity is an epic love journey that pulls hard on your heart strings. A story that makes you root for the main characters, like no other.  It takes a hold of your heart and does not let go, until the bitter end. If Gravity does not make you look further into your relationship and want to hold your significant other and never let go, then I have no words. I must say that this is my favorite love story of the year. Grab your tissues, a blanket and your comfy place and crack the book open.

Gemma is a lucrative man-eater in the practice of corporate law. She is married to her college sweetheart, Ryan .. a partner in his law firm. Gemma had it all. Love, money and happiness. The only thing that was missing was a child. She and Ryan longed for a child to bring into their already happy home. At least, that is what she thought. Stopping home for a file she needed for a business meeting, she hears a strange noise coming from down the hall. Then she hears his voice and is relieved that it is Ryan, until she hears that horrible sound. A woman's laugh. Gemma stops in her doorway and can not believe what she is seeing. The love of her life in their bed, with another woman.

Knowing she deserves better, she heads off to her childhood summer cabin. Gemma knows that she needs this time away from Ryan to think. In the blink of an eye, a deer runs out in front of her and she hits him, slamming her head into the windshield and causing quite a bit of damage to her car. Taking her car for repairs at the local garage, she finds her childhood friends, Logan and Andrew (Drew). Gemma spends time with Drew and soon realizes that she never stopped loving him. The two reconnect and soon, the time turns into a summer of romantic interludes and feeling as if she is sixteen again. Neither Gemma, nor Drew have felt this alive since they were kids. Romantic times just sitting on the dock, swimming in the lake, sitting by the fire and making love like they were the only two that ever existed. They know that they belong together. They just fit. Becoming inseparable, the summer begins to wind down and Gemma knows that she needs to make a decision. Go back to her sensible and comfortable life with her cheating husband Ryan, or remain with her childhood love Drew, who makes her heart flutter with just a smile adorned with dimples.

“Gemma?” Andrew asked, as if he wasn’t sure I was real.

I felt tears sting my eyes as my heart filled with a familiar warmth, like coming home. “Drew?” I asked, wondering if my own eyes were deceiving me. I couldn’t deny my heart though.

He walked toward me slowly, his blue eyes never leaving mine. He reached out his hand and cupped my cheek. “I can’t believe it’s really you.” His voice was deeper, manly, sophisticated. His face was flawless, perfect white teeth, his bright blue eyes mesmerizing, much like I remember. His light brown hair was a little long around the ears, in need of a haircut, but styled purposefully to look like he had just stepped out of bed. He was taller than I remembered and thin, but muscular at the same time.

Once my head caught up with my heart, I jumped up and wrapped my arms around his neck. “Oh, my God, Drew. This is crazy. I can’t believe you’re really here.” I felt his arms engulf me as we stood swaying back and forth in each other’s arms, suspended in time.

Toward the end, Gravity bends and snaps you back to reality without realizing that you even left. Very awe inspiring; amazing in a slightly frightening, but positive way. This piece is so far beyond any love story that I have had the pleasure to read. I certainly hope to have the chance to read another astounding love story by L.D. L.D. Cedergreen has always enjoyed writing. It started as short stories, and later developed into poetry–some of which has been published–and then her first full-length novel, Ripple. She’s a vivid day dreamer, a passionate reader, and a fan of all music.

L.D. Cedergreen is a small town girl at heart. Originally from Washington State, she now resides in Southern California with her husband and two little ones. As much as she would like to call herself a beach girl, she is–without a doubt– grounded by her small town roots.
