Blog Tour + Review: Take (Temptation #2) by Ella Frank

TAKE – verb: to reach for and hold in one’s hands or get into one’s possession, power or control.

Logan Mitchell is a man who’s always been more than happy to take what he wants. It’s a philosophy that’s proven lucrative in both his business and personal life, and never was it more apparent than the night he laid eyes on Tate Morrison. After pulling out all the stops and convincing the sexy bartender to give him a try—he’s hooked.

Now, Logan finds himself in a predicament that demands more from him than a smart-ass answer and his innate ability to walk away when things get too deep.

He has a choice to make, and it’ll force him to do something he’s never done before—take a chance.

Tate Morrison knows all about taking a chance. He took the biggest one of his life the night he showed up at Logan’s apartment to explore his unexpected reaction to the man.

Ever since then, he’s thought about little else.

At first he was convinced his attraction was based solely on his body’s curiosity. But the more time he spends with the silver-tongued lawyer, the more Tate realizes that their physical chemistry is only the beginning.

He’s starting to catch a glimpse of what life with Logan would be like, and it’s one full of excitement and satisfaction—a far cry from what he had in the past with his soon to be ex-wife.

Each man will face their fears as they begin to understand the true meaning of give and take. Their feelings for one another will be tested, as will their very beliefs. But now that they’ve found love where they least expected it, will they be brave enough to reach out and take it?

I'm just going to dive right in because these two don't need any preamble.  This story is just ... yeah I'm still at a loss for words.  They leave me speechless.  I'm recovering from a massive book hangover today on Logan and Tate's behalf. Ella Frank has written two of the most powerful male characters I've ever had the privilege of reading.  I just absolutely adore them together and when they aren't together or in an argument I want to just weep because I love them so much.  It's like they are real people, you want to be like, "Come on, you know Logan loves you, don't be like that!" and vice versa back at Logan saying the same thing about Tate.

Take is the follow-up to the wickedly delicious first novel in the Temptation series, Try.  There will be one more book and I am here panting and waiting for more.  The characters are more than three dimensional.  You feel everything they feel.  They react rationally to situations.  Their hurts become yours. It's like you are right there in the story feeling everything they are.

This is an erotic novel and boy does it live up to the genre its in, but its just so much more than that.  There is a truly remarkable love story here.  Whether Logan wants to admit it to himself or not, he needs Tate like he needs his next breath and watching him go through that realization in Take was awe inspiring and beautiful.  Gone is the man who hides behind the snark and charm.  In his place, a man torn open and raw, dripping with emotions that he hasn't felt in years.  Add to that a Tate Morrison who has tried something he never in a million years would have even considered and now he's hooked, addicted even.

These two can't get enough of one another and their passion for each other will consume you.  I have had a book hangover for two days as I've written this review.  I keep going back and re-reading my favorite parts.  I swear I highlighted half the story.  A couple of my favorite parts are here below:

"First and foremost, it was okay to give in and hand the reins over to someone else.  He even enjoyed it, not always being the one in control."
"That's what you want, isn't it? Someone who won't always let you win? Someone that is more than happy to be sucked and fucked but will also return the favor?  Mark my words, fine has no business with what we're about to do."
Tate Morrison.  He might as well change his name to temptation, because that's what he was.  Pure fucking temptation.
"In case I get busy in there and don't say it, thank you."
"For?" Tate asked as his eyes softened.
Logan squeezed his fingers, and as they started walking inside, he answered, "Always being willing to try."
Salivating for more?!  Well what are you waiting for ... get over to whichever is your favorite retailer and buy the ebook.  If you haven't read Try obviously you need to do that first but it will be so worth every single delicious second.  I do warn you, it will go by quick.  You'll be reading and before you know it you're half way done with the book and wishing that it would never end.  I am ready to go back and re-read now and will do again forever!

“That’s your truck?”

“It’s so…”

“So what?” Logan challenged as he pulled his keys from his pocket.

“Excuse me. I’ll have you know I was driving this baby all through college and she still runs like a dream.”

Tate watched as Logan walked over to run his hand over the scratched-up tailgate, and he was amazed that he even made that look sexy. Like he was stroking a lover.

“And it’s a she, huh?”

Now around at the passenger’s side, Logan opened the door and looked at him over the bed of the truck. “Yeah. Jealous?”

Laughing, Tate walked over to where Logan stood with a hand on the door and kissed him slowly on the mouth.

“I’m jealous of anything you stroke like that.”

“Get in the truck, Tate.”

“Or else?”

Logan stepped forward, crowding him back against the inside frame of the vehicle. “You’re not ready for the or else…”
