MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ALL…BUT NOT ALL BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE MENDED.
Always in control, Xander Wilde considered life on the road to be a perfect fit for him. But when disaster strikes on the Wilde Ones’ latest tour, fate intervenes…and a newly single Ivy Taylor, the only girl he has ever loved, steps back into his life.

After moving past her painful breakup with Xander years ago, Ivy was poised to become the next big name in pop music…when suddenly she withdrew from the limelight—the same day she announced her engagement to her controlling agent, Damon Wolf.

Xander knows he should keep his distance. But once they’re on the road, he can’t resist pursuing her for a second chance. Yet a jealous Damon can’t let her go—and he’s keeping dangerous secrets that could destroy them all.

When the three of them come together, everything falls apart. But if Xander and Ivy can hold tight to the bond that connects them, they just might have a chance at reclaiming the powerful love they thought they had lost forever...

Blown away … that’s probably the best way to summarize how I felt when I read the last word in Mended. I wanted to immediately re-read. I had been in the car earlier in the afternoon reading and was listening to the radio when “Play it Again” by Luke Bryan came on. All I could think while consuming the rest of this incredible story was I want to Read.It.Again.

Mended was unique in a way that we got to see our characters at a much younger age. They were 18 when they last saw one another and though they were completely and utterly head over heels in love with one another, events unfolded and misunderstandings were never cleared up. Twelve years later we find Xander Wilde as the Manager of The Wilde Ones, his brother River’s old band. River has since stepped down from stardom and touring to stay home with his new wife Dahlia. Xander got Zane to replace River but when fate steps in and side lines not one but two leading men, Ivy Taylor will come crashing back into Xander’s life like a tidal wave. He’s completely unprepared for their reunion. The Earth may have tilted off its axis for all Xander knows. He is suddenly thrust back to feeling and reliving feelings he hasn’t visited since he was 18.

Ivy is engaged to a man that Xander can’t stand. Damon Wolfe was the last name that Xander’s father ever uttered before taking his own life. He never knew what it meant but he’s hated him all the same ever since, now the much older man has the only woman Xander’s ever loved. Damon’s determined to make Ivy a star. She got out from under her mother’s influence and was able to pursue music like she wanted instead of being forced to be an actress but instead of making the music she wants she’s become a recognizable Pop Princess.

Ivy’s unhappy when she sees Xander again all these years later. Like Xander says, when you believe a lie for long enough, does it become the truth? They’re drawn together like a moth to a flame though. When Ivy steps in to help out The Wilde Ones, they are forced to live together in the tight confines of a tour bus as they travel the country. Forced to spend time together and in an attempt to be friends after all that culminated to tear them apart, can Xander and Ivy find their way back to one another and mend their broken hearts?

You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens because if I say any more I’ll just completely ruin the story. This is Kim Karr’s third full-length novel and dare I say it’s my favorite to date! I absolutely adored River and Dahlia and their story was incredible but Xander and Ivy’s love story takes it to another level. Their love is crazy and uninhibited; it’s volatile and real. When they are together, it’s not about thoughts, its about feelings even when Ivy believes Xander above all others cut her to the bone and changed her entire life in one heartbreaking instance. Oh and did I mention Xander's tattoo?  Well wait till you read about it because seriously, *swoon*!!!  They have a forever love no matter how much they try to deny it. This will go down in history on my list as one of the greatest love stories I’ve ever read.   Pick up Mended today and the rest of the Connections series by this remarkable author, you won’t be disappointed!
