"Now that I have you, I'm never letting you go.”

Edith Neff relocated to Chicago to capture her own piece of happiness. Now bombarded with more change than she knows how to manage, Eddie struggles to pick of the pieces of her torn heart and decimated friendship.

Standing in the middle of a sidewalk while her (ex?) boyfriend Harris Grant pleads for forgiveness, Eddie's at a loss what to do next. So when her estranged father provides a lifeline - she has no option than to take his offer.

But Harris won't let Eddie go without a fight. He'll use whatever tactics necessary to win back his girl. While Eddie and Harris find their way back together, darkness lurks, unwilling to relent on destroying their relationship. Permanently.

“And who do we have here?” she murmurs. Harris’ head snaps up and he twists his body around, his expressive gray eyes filled with confusion. Somehow, I speak up. “I’ve come to collect my things. I’m moving out.” “Edith.” The word comes out on a defeated exhale. With a beseeching gaze, Harris stands up and takes a halting step toward us, then pauses, shoving his hands into his jean pockets. “Good,” Claire says with a faux smile on her face. “But won’t you introduce us to your handsome friend?” My dad clears his throat. “I’m Ed’s father. We’ll be out of your way shortly.” He angles backward to look at me. “Go ahead,” he tells me like he wants me to leave the room. What could he possibly need to say to them? “Little mouse never told me the daddy that doesn’t love her is a hottie.” A rumbling noise escapes from Harris. “Claire!” he snaps. Did she really just say that? Now my anxiety is falling behind a very different, raw emotion—fury. “Look, Claire.” I release the suitcase in my hand and skirt around my father, moving closer to the couch. My eyes stay on her, ignoring everything else in the room. If I don’t focus on my resentment toward Claire, I might unwittingly reveal my broken heart. That’s not why I came here. “I can’t live with the lies and the games anymore. This place is unhealthy for me, and I’m not going to let you manipulate me anymore. I want to move out and move on. Could you just tell me what I owe you?” “Move out and move on.” Claire pulls a face as she mimics my words. “Ed,” my dad snaps, drawing my attention away from Claire. “Get started. I’ll handle the rest.” “Dad—” “Go.” His uses a razor-sharp tone, leaving no room for argument. With my marching orders, my eyes flicker to Harris. He clenches his fists, and wears a mask of thunder directed at his sister. Where was that anger yesterday?

You are mine and I am yours.  This is one of many quotes from this book and book one that just stuck with me.  When Harris first said that to Edith aka Eddie it melted my heart.

Book two picks up exactly where book one leaves off.  With Harris refusing to give up on his relationship with Edith, even though they have just been thrown a curve ball by Harris's sister Claire when she throws another one of her malicious lies out in order to keep Harris and Clair apart.  This time it hits its mark and Edith leaves determined not to look back

Harris is stunned completely quiet when he and Edith return back to his apartment after being out.  When they arrive they find Claire and her so called best friend there with Amanda is tears.  As soon as they enter into his apartment, Claire quickly accuses Eddie of having an affair with Amanda's husband, of which is untrue.  Caught off guard by this Harris doesn't immediately respond leaving Edith feeling like he is siding with his sister again and leaves.  When he realizes what has just happened, he rushes after her, but the damage has been done.

As time moves forward and Eddie works to shift her life back on track after Claire has tried to damage it beyond repair, Harris is in the process of trying to figure out what to do to gain Edith back.  During this time Eddie's dad has realized that he needs to step up and be the father that he never was, and to his surprise Eddie accepts his offer.

With this being said and giving you a bit of a glance as to which direction the book is headed I am going to flip you around and say that there are a few twists that will have you locked in and wanting to know what will happen next.  This is a good story with strong friendships and two people who are broken in different ways who find themselves needing the comfort of the other.  Not only are Eddie and Harris trying to develop a relationship with the demons that haunt them from their past, but Harris is trying to deal with his jealous and callous sister trying to keep him and the one person who has the ability to keep him grounded.  The passion that is written between these two is absolutely fantastic.  You can feel the love, anger, hope, and heartache that keeps the story flowing.  It is a touching work of art, and the different twists thrown into it will leave you hanging by a thread hoping that all will work out between these two.  Wonderful story Mrs. Luck.

Please check out Book One "In Pursuit" before reading Book two "Of Happiness".  In book one we are first introduced to Claire who is Eddie's new roommate in Chicago.  The two are brought together by Eddie's best friend Sarah.  What Sarah and Eddie don't know is how unstable Claire is and to what extent she will do to try to control and keep the focus of her brother Harris away from anyone other than herself.

As the story unfolds we find out that their is much more to the make up what makes Claire tick, and how she can become so different from one moment to the next.

What Eddie is equally unprepared for is meeting and wanting Claire's brother Harris.  As is human nature each of us at some point want somethings that we know we either should not want, or simply can not have.  In this case it is how Eddie and Harris each see one another.
