This is the tale of first and last loves. And those that come in between…
Jack Harrison is a relentless overachiever who leaves little in the way of compromise. A businessman to the core—he’s hell-bent on being at the top of the food chain. After all, no one can trip you up if you’re on top, as he likes to say. The problem for Jack is there’s only one thing that continually trips him up—and that’s her.

Amelie Rose, with a name like poetry and a heart of gold, as her father always said, is a free-spirited photographer who has managed to land a job at one of the top travel magazines in the world. This is both a blessing and a curse since Amelie never stays in one place for long and has refused to commit to anything—ever.

It might seem to the casual observer that these two have almost nothing in common. But fate would disagree. The story chronicles Jack and Amelie’s lives from childhood into adulthood, beginning when they meet as then eight- and ten-year-olds at summer camp specifically designed for children who’ve lost too much.

As fate steps in, and that first summer seals the deal, they come to depend on each other in ways neither of them expected, with each summer bringing them closer than the last. As they come to terms with life and loss, with hanging on and letting go, they’ll teach each other that some bonds are meant to last. Together, they will travel the world, meeting in various places where they’ll come together, and fall apart, all the while struggling to discern if the other could possibly be the one.

This unlikely love story takes us on an adventure where two people come of age, fall in and out of love, and question the role timing plays in it all.
Their story is proof that neither time nor distance—perhaps not even death—can destroy what love creates.

So it seems the only question left to ask is whether love is enough?

This is one truly amazing love story. One that will stay with you for quite some time.

Jack and Amelie meet at a grief summer camp, called Camp Hope. Each child there is dealing with some sort of loss, whether it be a father, mother, brother, sister, etc. During their first summer, Amelie comes to Jack's (unwanted) rescue while he was getting beaten up by a group of bullies. Jack was ten at the time, Amelie eight. Not only was his life ruined, as he believes, because someone stuck up for him, but ... a GIRL no less. Amelie annoys Jack, he wants nothing to do with her, yet everytime he turns around, there she is.

Amelie has a passion for photography and is constantly taking pictures. One summer, Jack sees that she has a collection of photos that are all of him. Feeling that it is creepy and weird, Jack hurls her camera into the lake. Immediately upon tossing it, Jack feels remorse as it was the last thing that her father had given her before he died. Being the honorable man that he is, he came up with the money to purchase her a new, top of the line camera. Amelie refused to speak to him that whole year, until the next summer at Camp Hope. Jack was so excited to personally deliver her gift. He finds that she has changed and he did not like what he saw.

Jack instantly becomes protective of Amelie and watches over her, and her every move. He decides that the best thing for Amelie would be to get as far away from Camp Hope as possible, and take her home. This is where their journey begins. The two embark on a road trip where they become closer than ever.

Amelie has always been in love with Jack. A part of me truly believes that he always knew this, although he chose not to acknowledge it. Little does Jack know, that Amelie brings out the best in him. Jack reveals a secret that he has never shared with anyone. A secret that has always kept his feelings for anyone or anything at bay. Amelie knows that she can help him, makes an offer and he whole heartedly accepts. What does he discover? That he is falling in love with her and he can no longer hold back those feelings.
The two travel the world, meeting up in this place and that. They revel in the idea of seeing each other in different parts of the Country, each time connecting and rekindling their love. They need each other more than they ever thought.

Can love conquer all? Does time truly heal all wounds? What is in store for Jack and Amelie? Trust me when I tell you that this book needs to be added to your TBR list. I enjoyed very moment of this book and was sad to see it end. Jack and Amelie will remain in my heart for quite a while. Author Britney King definitely has a new fan. Happy Reading!!

For those of you who prefer it straight up, no chaser: Mama to five. Lover of Life. Writer. Juggler extraordinaire. That just about covers it...

The extended version and in third person no less.;) Britney is married to a man she adores (when he isn't driving her crazy) and is the mother of five amazing kids, who (surprise!) also have a habit of driving her crazy. Her best guess is that it's genetic. In addition, Britney founded a local network for women in 2012, which has grown to almost 800 members. To further prove that she may in fact be certifiably insane, she decided to publish her debut novel entitled, Bedrock in May of 2013. Then and only then, would she consider her training to be an expert (life) juggler complete.
