Mary Elizabeth Matthews is a reclusive novelist with a great appreciation for actor Cody McAllister, so much so that he inspires a character in her newest novel. Unbeknownst to her, Cody’s friend and co-star Jennifer Johnstone is a huge fan of her books and gives the newest one to Cody. She insists he find a way to make it into a movie, saying he’d be perfect for the lead. Cody is instantly lost in the world of this novel , absorbing it in one sitting. He makes it his mission to find the mysterious author and convince her to let him produce a film version, having no idea that the character he is so determined to play was written only for him…or how his mission would change his life…forever.

Adult, Romance, 18+ Includes some non-graphic sexual situations.

When Lorraine messaged me 6 or 7 months ago and mentioned she was in the process of wrapping up her first book, I was over the moon with awe for my friend.  It's a life long dream of mine to write but for now I'm happy just reading and reviewing while my children are small and I'll live vicariously through my friend.  I hope you'll enjoy The Cowboy in Me as much as I did.  So here we go ...

This story belongs to Mary Elizabeth Matthews and Cody McAllister.  Mary is better known as M.E. Welch, at least that's her pen name in the writing world.  She's an enigma.  There are only a handful of folks who know her true identity and she keeps everyone else at arms distance and for good reason.  She had one truly awful thing done to her when she was younger by letting someone too close and though it ended in a tiny miracle, her life was forever changed, causing her to keep her identity close to the chest when she writes.

Then you have Cody McAllister, a big time Hollywood Movie Star who is as Southern as they come and absolutely knock out gorgeous to boot.  He's on set wrapping up his latest film when longtime friend Jennifer hands him Where the Trail Ends by M.E. Welch.  She insists there is a movie to be made and he needs to give the novel a shot.  So, he heads to his hotel room, settles in and doesn't emerge until he's finished the novel the following morning.  He's speechless, absolutely blown away by why he has read and has to be a part of making this book into a movie like Jennifer suggested.  He's convinced the lead roll was written with him in mind and has to find the enigma that is M.E. Welch in order to get the rights to make this project a reality.  What he's not prepared for is what he feels when he sees a photo of the woman who is now embedded in his dreams and finds out she is M.E. Welch.

Cody embarks on a journey to surprise Mary Elizabeth at her ranch in Texas to procure the rights to the film.  He's prepared to do whatever he can to win the lead roll.  What he's not prepared for is the all consuming love he feels toward his dream girl when he's in her presence.  Now that he's here, this is where he wants to be, this is home.  All he has to do is convince Mary Beth that she's the one for him and he for her and together, find their Happily Ever After.

This was such an absolutely beautiful story.  It is emotional, passionate, and full of romance.  Cody and Mary Beth were simply made for one another.  Their connection is so strong that they can't fight the pull toward one another.  There is something absolutely beautiful about that in my eyes.  A story that is no nonsense, in your face, full of love, life and light is different in this Indie genre.  I will admit, I even told Lorraine while I was reading, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop ... I'm so used to the discord in most books that I was waiting for the turmoil between Cody and Mary Beth.  True to form, nobody lives a life that enchanted and there will be turmoil but that's life and some time's life gets messy.  The characters are raw and vulnerable and full of passion and life for one another and what they love to do as their careers.  As I said, The Cowboy in Me is an awe inspiring love story about a couple of soul mates destined to be together forever and that is exactly why every one of you should read their story.

I met Lorraine in 2009 at a Twilight convention in Dallas, TX.  We were ironically both waiting for a friend to show up and didn't realize that friend was the same person.  The rest is history.  We've been friends ever since.

Lorraine Britt and Cover Model - Jared Thompson

1. Lorraine - Like your character, Mary Beth, you went with a pen name. Can you share with us why you chose to do so?

My pen name is both an homage to and in honor of two very special ladies: to my grandmother for whom I am named and my great grandmother. It is a nod to two true Southern ladies.

2. Lorraine - Is Mary Beth modeled after you or someone you know?

Yes and no. There are little parts of myself in all my characters. That is inherent. The rest of their makeup comes from both my imagination and pieces of others I have known throughout my life.

3. Lorraine - What was your inspiration for writing The Cowboy in Me, did Mary Beth and Cody tell you how they wanted their story written?

The story truly came from just an “A-ha” moment, as most of my stories do. I can be driving down the road, day dreaming or just in a quiet moment and the complete framework of a story can just come to me. The story simply unfolded from that point forward.
4. Lorraine - Did you know Jared prior to writing The Cowboy in Me? If not, what drew you to him as the face of Cody McAllister?

No, I did not. I discovered Jared’s Facebook fan page and approached him about being the face of the book. One I got to know Jared better I realized how much of his personality truly was Cody. The character of Cody really came to life at that point.

5. Jared - How did you feel when Lorraine approached you about being on the cover of her book?

I felt very honored and excited. At the time... She was the very first author to approach me about a book cover and of course I said HECK YES!!! Being from a small town is Mississippi with a population size of about 800, just the idea of your face being on someone's book is incredible to me.

 6. Jared - What did you think of Cody's character and are you anything like him?
Cody just sounds like an all around good guy. His morals, beliefs, and personality lines up directly with mine.

7. Jared - What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for a date?

Well I'm not a typically a romantic guy, but for the right girl I know how to turn towards the sweet side. My girlfriend, the love of my life who I've been dating for years now, we went to a dock by a lake at night and just simply laid there on the water while holding hands and counting stars for hours.
8. Lorraine/Jared - Are you both country people naturally?

Lorraine – I’m honestly a bit of both a country girl and a city girl. I grew up in small towns in East Texas, but spent a number of years living in Dallas. I prefer small town, country life…as long as the small town and country is close enough to the city that I can easily drive there and enjoy all that it has to offer.
Jared - I grew up on a farm with horses, donkeys, chickens, and goats, but I went on to develop my own interest outside of the farm life. I also use to have a real country accent but I met one of my best friends at the age of 14 who was from Chicago. Due to hanging around him often, I now don't sound like I'm from Mississippi.

9. Lorraine - Are you working on any new projects?

ABSOLUTELY! Always! The wheels never stop turning! My next book, Love Knows No Bounds, will be released in June, followed closely by The Passions of Honor in July. The list beyond that is lengthy and always growing.

10. Jared - Are you working on any new projects?

I am currently prepping for my first national level physique competition which is the Jr. USA's in Charleston, SC.
11. Jared - What three things would you like people to know about you that they don't already know?

My original dream was to play football.  I had it in my head at 10 years old that I would end up playing in the NFL, but due to life and injuries my dreams were force to change.  I'm an avid video game lover and always will be.  I also really hate when people do not keep their word.

Thank you both for joining us today and Good Luck to both of you on your future endeavors!
