Strike is the second book in the Completion Series. There is no connection to Play (book I) except the sports theme. Strike is a standalone HEA novel.

Nineteen-year-old Jaycee Shumway breaks into professional baseball player, Reed Tyler’s home, to steal the second most valuable set of balls he owns. Neither of them expect their striking attraction or battle of wills to lead them to a homerun.

Jaycee has more than herself to worry about. When Reed discovers she has a younger brother and sister, he’s quickly caught up in their world of need and heartbreak.

Baseball season begins and the separation puts Reed and Jaycee’s game on hold. With bases loaded and hearts on the line, will Reed convince Jaycee that she needs him to win or will Jaycee strike out and walk off the field forever?

This New Adult book is intended for mature audiences.

His husky laughter rang out, drowning me in the sexy sound. Why couldn’t he snort like a pig or something just as ridiculous when he laughed?
“You’re very concerned about my balls,” he said when his laughter died away.
My smartass mouth took front and center. “If you remember… I’ve seen your balls and it would be unsporting of me not to be concerned.”
Oh, God, his eyes sparkled and I would do anything to take back my words and the thoughts they conjured.

Reed wouldn’t let it pass. “I’ve seen a fair amount of you and that also causes me concern. So much concern that I didn’t sleep well last night.”  Mortification anyone?
“A gentleman wouldn’t bring that up.”
This time, his laugh was plain evil. “A gentleman wouldn’t have cut away your shirt and bra. A gentleman wouldn’t have admired your tits. A gentleman wouldn’t do this…”
I had no time to prepare for what happened next. His warm lips took mine at the same time his hands closed around my upper arms, trapping me. My entire body reacted to the kiss. I grew light-headed, my breasts ached, and my heart almost exploded out of my chest. But it was the taste of his mouth that had me squeezing my thighs together. I never knew anyone could taste this good. There was no description on earth that did it justice. I wanted to eat him whole.

I was so excited to get another opportunity to read and review another one of Holly Roberts books.  I got to read Play which is her first book in the Completion Series and it was great.  Well let me just say she did not disappoint with Strike either.  It is a book that is funny, sexy as all get out, and will even have you saying would you just give in to Jaycee.

I found myself laughing at some of the statements and back and forth banter that Jaycee and Reed toss back and forth.  For two people who come from totally different backgrounds and are truly opposites you have to ask will they really be able to work and get past those differences.  Reed is an amazing baseball player who takes a liking to Jaycee after the most unusual of meetings.  The more he finds out about her the more he seems to want to take care of her.  The problems is that Jaycee is a very head strong and independent young woman who is responsible for the care and well being of her two younger siblings Jon and Bitsy.  Reed quickly sees that Jaycee is doing everything that she can to take care of her brother and sister, and by seeing this he wants to help her in every way possible.  Will she let him is the question?

Even though things heat up between the two, Jaycee still tries to keep him at an arms length because of the type of relationships that her mother had and she in no ways wants to end up in the same situations.  I love how she and Jon are able to talk and he is wise beyond his years.  The both are determined to see that Bitsy is well looked after and worry what will happen when she grows attached to Reed.  Will Jaycee and Reed be able to make it work?  Will Jaycee allow Reed to help her support her siblings as well as herself?  How will the upcoming season affect these two young lovers that already have the odds stacked against them?  Well sorry to inform you, but if I tell you the answers to these questions then I would be spoiling the book for you and it is just TO GOOD to do that.  So you must get it and read it and I really hope you get the laughs that I did from it.  Again Holly... this book is an out of the park, homerun for sure.

I have to leave you with my favorite conversation between Jaycee and Reed:  Someone tried to break into my house the other day. Was that you?  No.  It's quiet a coincidence. Its not a coincidence. The what is it?  "Your Balls".  "Your autographed balls".  The ones my father left me?  Why? I can't tell you because innocent people will get hurt.  You can tell me or go to jail.  I'll go to jail.  If you go to jail will my "balls" be safe.  No.  How do I know if you are telling the truth.  Because I now have to worry about my brother and sister.  What if I move my balls to a different location?  It might work as long as you make it a big deal and go public.  Why would someone want my balls? They're priceless to me, but really each one isn't worth more than a few grand if that.

Holly S. Roberts is the bestselling author of fourteen novels, and writes under three pen names. A romantic at heart, she fell in love at the age of twelve with a boy she saw across junior high school campus. Four years later, he took notice and she never let go.  Her career in law enforcement gives her a reason to want romance, happy endings, and anything that takes her away from real life when she reads and writes. She can shoot a mean game of pool, toss back a straight shot of tequila, and recite the Gettysburg Address.  Holly lives high in the mountains in the southwest United States with her husband, Rottweiler and Chihuahua.
