One text can change everything.
Honor Calhoun never thought her life would ever be like the books she writes for a living. One morning while out for a run, she learns not all bad things are plots in novels. Some horrors can actually come true.

She faces off with a persistent attacker, holds her own, but in the end is taken hostage and thrown into a hole. In the middle of the woods.

But Honor didn’t go down there alone.

She took her kidnapper’s phone with her. With a spotty signal and a dying battery, her hope is slim.

Nathan Reed is an active duty Marine stationed at a small reserve base in Pennsylvania. All he wants is a calm and uneventful duty station where he can forget the memories of his time in a war-torn country.

But a single text changes everything.

Nathan becomes Honor’s only hope for survival, and he has to go against the clock, push aside his past, and take on a mission for a girl he’s never met.

Both of them want freedom… but they have to survive long enough to obtain it.

***This is a new adult contemporary novel and contains sexual content and graphic language. It is not intended for young adult readers.***

This story was completely unexpected and by unexpected I mean that I didn’t expect it to draw me in the way that it did. I was reading too fast and wanted to slow down but I just couldn’t put it down.
Text is the story of Honour Calhoun and Nathan Reed. They meet by chance or maybe it’s fate but either way their love story is incredible.

Honour Calhoun has recently decided to make her obsession with writing a full-time job. She’s bought a house, settled in and has started making a pretty big name for herself. Like any other day she goes out for her early morning jog and doesn’t think anything bad will happen to her. This particular morning though, evil is lurking waiting for her. A man jumps Honour, beats her, threatens to rape her and knocks her out cold. Next thing she knows she is being carried like a sack of potatoes over her attackers shoulder through the woods. In a moment of clarity after coming to and realizing her attacker is about to drop her down a pre-made 30 foot hole, she spots his cell phone and flails enough to grab it without him noticing. But, now she’s in a 30 foot hole and doesn’t have a lot of signal obviously, but she holds on to the hope that she’ll be able to get someone, anyone to find her and rescue her.

Nathan Reed goes about his day in the Marine Corp like any other day and plans to end his evening with beer and a regularly scheduled poker game. That is until he receives a text that is anything but light hearted and funny. Thinking the owner of the phone is obviously playing a practical joke he tries to blow off said text but later realizes something is not right and starts to ask questions of the mysterious person sending such haunting messages. Nathan has been trained by the best to handle situations like these and remain level headed and get the job done. Right now his job is to find Honour Calhoun and save her life.

Like I said, this was an amazing story and I don’t want to give a lot away. Obviously Nathan finds her but after being thrown together and having to endure this situation together, he doesn’t trust her safety to anyone else and can’t bring himself to just walk away before his heart gets involved. Their love story is unique and breathtaking. It’s creative and even has its elements of humor. Nathan and Honour have a passion for one another that rivals standing on the sun and when they are together, the pages are

Cambria Hebert is a breath of fresh air in the Romance genre. Don’t let the Romance tag fool you though because while Text is definitely a Romance, it is also a Suspense novel and a damn good one at that! I would laugh out loud while reading Honours thoughts as if she were writing her next novel. I kept wondering how much of her mannerisms really belong to Cambria as she writes and thinks about her characters. I’m still thinking of their story and it definitely gave me a book hangover for more than a few days. I’ll leave my thoughts on this story at, BRAVO ma’am! I will forever and always be a fan and can’t wait to see what Cambria comes up with next!
