Review & Giveaway: Travis by Nicole Edwards

Title: Travis
Series: Alluring Indulgence #3
Author: Nicole Edwards
Publish Date: August 1, 2013
Review Source: Purchased eBook for Kindle

Barnes & Noble

Travis Walker, the oldest of the seven Walker brothers, has been referred to as moody and mysterious, and for the most part, he would agree. Until recently, he spent his days helping his brothers run the family business. Now, he dedicates his time and energy to building a resort, Alluring Indulgence, that caters to fetishes and fantasies. And despite his attempt to work himself into the ground, Travis has never denied – at least not to himself – that something is missing.

Ten years ago, Travis made the hardest decision of his life, breaking his own heart in the process. A decade later, he is learning that life has a strange way of turning things upside down before placing the pieces exactly where they were meant to go.

Have I said before that Nicole never disappoints?!  Oh that's right, I probably have put that in every review but you know what, Travis was no exception to the rule when it comes to how I feel about Nicole's writing, her characters and the entire Club Destiny/Alluring Indulgence universe.

This book is HUGE!  I got to see a copy of it in person in Vegas and damn if Travis didn't deserve every single page that Nicole poured her soul into here.  This story was phenomenal.  When I realized Travis' story was going to be a threesome much like Luke, Sierra and Cole I worried Nicole wouldn't be able to make it unique.  I worried it would just be Travis, Kylie and Gage interacting just like my favorite threesome already has in their two amazing novels.  But again Nicole doesn't disappoint and I should have known better!

I really don't know how she does it.  She continues to create these incredibly complex and interesting characters.  They leap off the page and grab you by the front of your shirt and command you give them your full undivided attention.  This isn't easy to do when you have two small children but every second I could, my iPad was open on the couch, in bed, the car or even the dining room table while I devoured the 700+ pages that Nicole dedicated to Travis. Of the seven Walker brothers he is definitely the hard ass of the family and it was a real treat to get inside his head and see how he ended up this way and the events that changed him after his time in the Army.

Then there is the always yummy Gage Mathews whom I wouldn't mind a couple hours with! Gage has no inner demons like Cole did in Temptation that would make him think he isn't good enough for Travis or Kylie. Instead Gage has to overcome the world of hurt he has brought down on himself after essentially pissing in Travis territory and purposefully trying to piss the man off while trying to prove he is the bigger alpha.  And finally Kylie ... she is just a doe eyed little sweetheart and you just love her from the get go. She's so innocent and sweet and you can totally see why Travis fell in love with her all those years ago but you also see why he would think she'd never be able to accept that he needs a man in his life as much as he needs a woman.  The three of them together is explosive, emotional and beautiful and I just ate up every interaction between the three.

Of course one of my favorite scenes in the book was Curtis and Lorrie Walker talking on their couch when Curtis returns from a night at Moonshiners with his boys.  I'd kill to have a novella about them, they are just so freaking adorable and real.  I like to think that parents who have raised seven very alpha males like the Walker brothers would be just like Curtis and Lorrie.  That's all I can say there without giving away why I love this scene but when you get there, you'll understand why I love them so much!

Then there is the sex ... hopefully you've read at least one of Nicole's books if you're reading this review so you'll know exactly what the sex is like in her books.  For those of you who are not familiar with her books, then let me warn you to keep extra panties on hand, a bottle of water, and maybe even an industrial fan because the scenes she comes up with are scorching.  I am always reminded of a phrase authors will use when the girl is describing what it feels like during a sexual encounter with the lead male ... it goes something like, "my womb spasmed ...".  I remember the first time I read that and I thought to myself, "hmmm what would that feel like exactly?" Well every time I read Nicole Edwards, my womb spasms and let me just tell you, I find myself pressing my knees together, my neck and ears get hot and I get a grin the likes of the cheshire cat when I read these scenes. These characters are having the sex life we should all go out and find in my opinion!

In short, Nicole Edwards is my guilty pleasure!  I can't wait to read Xander when she releases it later this year. Now that I'm all caught up on Club Destiny and Alluring Indulgence I get to sit and drum my fingers into the table waiting impatiently with the rest of the world for Nicole's next masterpiece.  Bravo Nicole! I hope you enjoy the new graphic for my 5 Bar rating, created just for you in honor of the heat that comes with reading your books.

About me... hmmm...

Ok, I've been asked to provide a little bit of "real" information about myself. That's harder to do than you think it is, especially for someone who has difficulty talking about themselves. ;) But, here goes...

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a kid, I loved creative writing and as I got older, I got acquainted with those voices in my head and that led to putting my stories on paper. And now, here I am all these years later, spending my days doing what I love most. I decided to give myself over to writing full time in 2012 and I haven't looked back. I spent nearly 13 years in the corporate world and I have to say, this is a bit of a change (just a little) and I am loving every second of it.

I live in Texas with my husband and three amazing kids and our two beloved dogs. If I'm not writing, I'm usually reading. I devour everything I can get my hands on. I love romance of any type and being an Indie author myself, I'm always looking for new Indies to support. I haven't always been into reading, but about eleven years ago, I picked up a book - I'm pretty sure it was by Nora Roberts - and from there, I haven't stopped. Before I began writing full time, and my characters started taking up so much of my time, I was reading about 200 books a year. That has dwindled somewhat, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't read.

An interesting fact... I don't watch television - aside from the occasional news anyway. I will go see a movie or two rarely, but for the most part, I get all of my entertainment from a book. Some of my favorite authors include J.R. Ward, Suzanne Brockmann, Lora Leigh, Jane Rylon, Lori Foster, and Jaci Burton just to name a few.
